Gillian's debut album featuring her own arrangements of Debussy's Clair de Lune and la file aux cheveux de lin. Other works include by Keiko Abe, Bach, Paterson and Yuyama and more.
Clair De Lune from Suite Bergamasque by Claide Debussy arr. Gillian maitland. This arrangement fits on the standard f-f range vibraphone. It utilises peddling and dampening as well as use of harmonics and so is set at advanced level. This has been arranged in true vibraphone style both in required playing technique as well as how it is notated. This arrangement is featured on Gillian's album 'Plocanan'. Clair de lune comes out at around 5 minutes.
La Fille aux Cheveux de Lin by Claude Debussy arr. Gillian Maitland. This arrangement fits on the standard range f-f vibraphone. it utilises both peddling and dampening and is set at advanced level. This has been arranged in true vibraphone style both in required playing techniques as well as how it is notated. It is approximately 2.30 min in length.
This was composed in summer 2008, and published by Southern Percussion May 2009. It was originally composed for two marimbas and double bass, but it works well with any combination of marimba, vibraphone and xylophone with the bass line also being played by any of these instruments.
Difficulty - player 1 and 2 is on the harder side of intermediate, and player 3 (bass line) is medium difficulty.
The pack includes a full score, and individual copies of each part.
Advanced marimba solo originally composed for guitar. This arrangement was personally approved by Roland Dyens and published by Southern Percussion.
A very fun piece to add to your repertoire.
Two Rhythmic Dances: Brazilian Nights and Orinoco is for solo marimba and for intermediate to advanced level. It is for four mallets and a 5 octave marimba is required. It can be transferred to 4 1/3 octave without many changes if you do not have access to a 5 octave.
